Asian-Inspired Chicken Pizza for Lowering Cholesterol

Ingredients

  • 1 whole wheat pizza crust
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium tomato sauce
  • 1 cup cooked shredded chicken breast
  • 1/2 cup sliced shiitake mushrooms
  • 1/4 cup sliced water chestnuts
  • 1/4 cup sliced green onions
  • 1/2 cup shredded low-fat mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
In a small bowl, mix together the sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the whole wheat pizza crust.
Top the pizza with the shredded chicken, shiitake mushrooms, water chestnuts, and green onions.
Drizzle the sesame oil mixture over the pizza.
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Slice the pizza into 8 pieces and serve hot.
