Nutella-Inspired Spread for Lowering Cholesterol

A delicious and heart-healthy alternative to traditional Nutella, designed to support a diet aimed at lowering high cholesterol.
Ingredients
- 1 cup raw hazelnuts
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp maple syrup or agave nectar
- 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of sea salt
- 1-2 tbsp almond milk (or any plant-based milk)
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Spread the hazelnuts in a single layer on a baking sheet and roast for 10-12 minutes, or until fragrant and lightly golden.
Remove the hazelnuts from the oven and let them cool slightly. Rub the hazelnuts in a clean kitchen towel to remove the skins.
In a food processor, blend the hazelnuts until they form a smooth butter-like consistency, scraping down the sides as needed.
Add the cocoa powder, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and sea salt to the hazelnut butter. Blend until well combined.
Gradually add the almond milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until you reach your desired spreadable consistency.
Transfer the spread to a jar or airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Enjoy on toast, fruit, or as a dip!
