Creamy Methi Matar Malai

A delicious and heart-healthy Dhaba style Methi Matar Malai recipe that is low in fat, high in protein, and cholesterol-friendly.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh fenugreek leaves (methi), washed and chopped
  • 1 cup green peas (matar), fresh or frozen
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, pureed
  • 1/2 cup cashew cream (blend soaked cashews with water)
  • 1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish

Instructions

Heat olive oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.
Add chopped onions and sauté until translucent.
Add ginger-garlic paste and cook for 1-2 minutes until the raw smell goes away.
Add tomato puree and cook until the oil separates.
Add turmeric powder, coriander powder, garam masala, red chili powder, and salt. Mix well.
Add chopped fenugreek leaves and green peas. Cook for 5-7 minutes until the vegetables are tender.
Pour in the cashew cream and simmer for 2-3 minutes.
Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves and serve hot with roti or rice.
