Italian-Inspired Meat

A delicious and heart-healthy meat dish inspired by Italian flavors, designed to support a diet aimed at lowering high cholesterol.
Ingredients
- 1 lb lean ground turkey
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 oz) diced tomatoes, no salt added
- 1 cup low-sodium chicken broth
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups cooked whole grain pasta
Instructions
In a large skillet, cook the ground turkey over medium heat until browned.
Add the onion and garlic, and cook for another 2-3 minutes until softened.
Stir in the diced tomatoes, chicken broth, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes.
Serve the meat sauce over cooked whole grain pasta.
